For a long time, social media has been viewed as a space for communicators, content creators, and digital specialists, while many others remained consumers of the content they created. However, this distinction is rapidly changing. Digital platforms are no longer simply spaces for sharing updates or entertainment. They have become powerful tools for leadership, learning, advocacy, and collaboration, enabling people to exchange knowledge, mobilise collective action, and influence conversations beyond geographical boundaries.
Recognising this opportunity, Stories for Impact was introduced at YouLead Summit 2026. Developed by MS Training Centre for Development Cooperation (MS TCDC) and the Danida Fellowship Centre (DFC) under the Together for Impact partnership, the learning experience was designed to help delegates strengthen their ability to use digital storytelling as a tool for leadership, connection, and collective action.
Combining pre-summit workshops with daily engagements throughout the summit, the sessions challenged participants to rethink how they approach social medianot simply as a place to document experiences or promote personal achievements, but as a platform to share learning, highlight innovations, and inspire action.
Through practical exercises, delegates explored how their experiences, ideas, and work can become stories that create value for others using a simple storytelling framework: Hook – Story – Call to Action.
The transformation was visible throughout the summit. Delegates moved from simply sharing that they were attending an inspiring gathering to communicating insights, lessons, innovations, and calls to action that invited others to engage with the conversations taking place.
While Stories for Impact was introduced to help delegates capture the ambitions, solutions, and innovations emerging from YouLead Summit 2026, its value extends far beyond the summit itself. The skills gained provide young leaders with practical tools they can apply within their organisations, communities, and personal leadership journeys.
YouLead's ambition goes beyond convening young people in inspiring spaces. It is about equipping them with the skills, networks, and confidence to take the ideas and solutions born at the summit into their communities and beyond. Stories for Impact strengthens this vision by ensuring that the learning continues long after the summit ends, because when stories travel, so do solutions inspiring change far beyond our immediate networks.
